LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL : Lakewood Ranch man dies in 3-car accident on Monday, January 16th 2017
A Lakewood Ranch man died Monday evening in a three-car accident in Manatee County. Dead is William Rockwell Aker, 47.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol report, Aker was westbound on State Road 70 approaching the intersection of Braden Run in his Honda CR-V about 5 p.m. Driving behind him was Brian Anderson Banks, 53, of Myakka City, in his Nissan Frontier pickup truck. Reportedly, Banks ran into the rear of Aker, knocking his car across the median and into the path of an eastbound Ford F-350 pickup truck driven by Michael A. Molloy, 63, of Lakewood Ranch. Molloy then collided with Aker.
Aker suffered fatal injuries in the accident.
Banks suffered serious injuries and was transported to Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. The Florida Highway Patrol reports that alcohol was a factor.
Michael Molloy was transported to Lakewood Ranch with minor injuries. His passenger, Mary Molloy, 60, also suffered minor injuries in the accident.
The accident remains under investigation and charges are pending.
