A 26-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash when she apparently lost control of the car she was driving and crossed into oncoming traffic on U.S. 441 south of Ocala.
Cora Lopez, of Ocala, was traveling north on the divided highway, on her way way home from work, when the silver 2006 Toyota Corolla she was driving crossed the median and was T-boned by a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.
Both vehicles ended up on the west shoulder in front of G n S Motor Vehicle Sales, 6400 S. U.S. 441.
Troopers did not yet know what caused Lopez to lose control of the car. She was pronounced dead on scene by a Marion County Fire Rescue paramedic.
The driver of the Trailblazer, Marjorie Howard, 65, of Ocala, was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to FHP.
