Corbin, KY : Kentucky trooper, Sevierville driver injured in crash on Sunday, September 25, 2016
A Kentucky State Police Trooper and a driver were taken to the hospital after a collision.
Kentucky State Police said they received reports that a trooper was involved in a crash Sunday at 4:11 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 25E and Ky 1629. According to a preliminary investigation, deputies said Billy Latham, 80, of Sevierville was trying to make a left hand turn when he struck the 2014 Dodge Charger driven by Sgt. Alfred Bunch.
Latham told deputies he thought he had time to safely make the turn in his 2015 Ford Taurus . Police said Sgt. Bunch braked, but was unable to avoid the collision. They said Sgt. Bunch’s vehicle spun hitting the front bumper of a 2005 Ford Sport Trac operated by Billy Anderson, 61, of Williamsburg.
Police said there was severe damage to the Dodge Charger and Ford Taurus. Latham and Bunch were taken to Baptist Regional Medical Center by Knox County EMS and Laurel County EMS.
Sgt. Bunch is a 13 year veteran of the Kentucky State Police.
