Portland, OR : A driver died after crashing head-on into another car on Monday, June 19, 2017
A driver died after crashing head-on into another car Monday afternoon in Canby, police said.
The driver, a 35-year-old man, died from what appear to be unrelated causes while being rushed to a hospital, Canby police said in a news release. Authorities don't know specifically what caused his death, police said.
One of the six people in the car he hit was flown to a hospital for treatment of apparent non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. Four others were taken to hospitals by ambulance, police said, and all of them are expected to survive.
The crash happened around 1:10 p.m. on Oregon 99E in the area of South Pine Street, police said. People reported seeing the 35-year-old man heading north and driving erratically before leaving his lane and hitting a southbound car head-on, police said. The man who died was traveling alone, police said, and adults and minors were in the second car.
KATU-TV reports the man was driving erratically because of a medical condition. His cause of death is under investigation, according to police.
The crash remains under investigation.
