Napoleonville, LA : 4-year-old child dies, mother injured when car veers off highway near Napoleonville on Sunday night, November 2, 2014
State police say a 4-year-old boy was killed and his mother injured after the car she was driving struck a culvert Sunday night near Napoleonville.
The Courier reports Cason Willoughby of Napoleonville was pronounced dead at the scene. A spokesman for Troop C says the accident happened shortly after 9 p.m. just south of Louisiana Highway 70.
Investigators say 22-year-old Toniska Willoughby was driving north on Louisiana Highway 308 when her Mazda veered off the road and into a ditch.
Willoughby was taken to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge with what police described as moderate injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
