A 4-year-old died in a head-on crash.

The crash happened Friday evening on East Greensboro Chapel Hill Road in the southern part of the county.

State troopers told the newspaper that the child's mother, Amanda Alston, crossed the center line and hit a vehicle in the other lane.

The child died at the scene. Two other children were in the car.
