Two people were killed after a car struck their motorcycle on U.S. 19 in Pasco County late Saturday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The motorcycle's driver, Jaime Hernandez, 50, and passenger Lori Ann Gestring, 50, were stopped facing north in the center lane of U.S. 19 for a red light at the intersection of New York Avenue around 11:14 p.m., authorities said. Joshua Stalker, 30, was driving north in the center lane of U.S. 19 and failed to stop, according to the Highway Patrol.

Stalker's vehicle struck the rear of the motorcycle, which got wedged under the car's front bumper and caught fire, authorities said. Hernandez and Gestring died at the scene. Stalker suffered minor injuries, the Highway Patrol said.
