Portland, OR : Pedestrian dies in a after fatal crash on U.S. 26 in Sandy on Friday morning, August 5, 2016
A 58-year-old Sandy resident died after a pickup truck hit him Friday morning in Sandy, police said.
Officers responded just after 5 a.m. and found Michell Jordan, who died at the intersection of U.S. 26 and Ruben Lane, said Officer Jason Bickle in a brief news release. Jordan was crossing the highway when he was struck by a 2016 Dodge Ram pickup.
Witnesses told police Jordan wore dark clothing and was looking at the ground when he crossed the highway, Bickle said. The driver, Scott Gorski of Boring, had attempted at the last second to avoid a collision with Jordan.
Gorski, 46, cooperated with police officers, who do not suspect drugs or alcohol as a factor in the crash, Bickle said. Gorski is not facing any charges.
"He is having a difficult time dealing with the emotions he is experiencing at this time," Bickle said.
Jordan's body has been transported to the Clackamas County Medical Examiner's Office. No other information was released.
