Kokomo,IN : Kokomo man critically injured in motorcycle accident on May, Thursday 17th 2018
Jesse N. Perkins, 41, suffered from a head injury after crashing on South Apperson Way near the King Street intersection, according to a report from the Kokomo Police Department. The accident happened at around 8:25 a.m. Thursday.
According to the report, KPD learned at the scene that Perkins was traveling south on Apperson Way on the motorcycle, when the vehicle’s front fender came loose from its mounting. The fender became caught on the front tire, causing the tire to lock. Perkins was ejected off the motorcycle, sustaining the head injury. The report indicates he was not wearing a helmet.
Two witnesses in separate vehicles told police they saw the motorcycle pass them at a high rate of speed at a no-pass zone near the Apperson Way and Superior Street intersection.
Only one of those witnesses claimed to see the actual crash. As the motorcycle approached King Street, the witnesses said it began to swerve. The driver seemed to lose control, as the motorcycle swerved and crashed, coming to a rest near Harrison Street.
The witnesses found Perkins unconscious, but said he woke up on the scene and was able to walk around.
Perkins was transported to St. Vincent Kokomo, and then airlifted to St. Vincent Indianapolis, where a representative advised Friday just past noon that Perkins was listed in critical condition.
