PLANT CITY, FL : 27-year-old motorcyclist killed in Plant City crash on Saturday, 1st December 2018

In a report released Sunday evening, the Florida Highway Patrol said Ronald C. Sampson of Fort Meade was the motorcyclist who suffered fatal injuries in a fiery crash with a cargo van on State Road 60 at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

According to the report, the 27-year-old Sampson was driving his 2007 Yamaha YZF-R6 westbound at a "high rate of speed" in the inside travel lane of State Road 60 when he crashed into a cargo van making a left-hand turn off of Horton Road.

The impact of the crash caused the motorcycle to catch fire, the report said. Sampson died at the scene.

The driver of the 2018 Ram cargo van, 51-year-old Timothy Wilbert Bowser of Lakeland, was not injured by the collision, the report said.
