LINN COUNTY, IA : 18-year-old killed in crash on Blairs Ferry Road in the area of Feather Ridge Road on Monday, 11th February 2019

An 18-year-old woman was killed in a crash on Blairs Ferry Road Monday morning, according to the Linn County Sheriff's Office.Her name was not immediately released.

It happened just after 8 a.m. in the area of Feather Ridge Road.

The sheriff's office said the woman lost control on the icy road and crashed head-on into 54-year-old Susan Geels, of Cedar Rapids. Geels was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The 18-year-old driver died at the scene, according to the sheriff's office.

The crash is still under investigation.

The road was closed but has since reopened.
