Florida Highway Patrol officials on Thursday identified the 24-year-old man who died when he lost control of his 2014 Mack tractor-trailer on U.S. 301 Wednesday morning.

Jose Emilio Camacho Ortiz of Tampa was driving on U.S. 301 about 6:50 a.m. Wednesday when he lost control of the vehicle and it flipped several times. He died in the crash, officials said.

The tanker was carrying jet fuel and flooded the roadway, shutting it down for several hours.

The cab disconnected from the trailer, and both landed on separate sides of the road, the report said. The trailer, which contained 8,000 gallons of aviation fuel, had multiple leaks.

The accident closed the road State Road 24 in Waldo and State Road 26 in Orange Heights for several hours and some homes closest to the crash site were evacuated.
