MIDDLETOWN, MD : Man charged with impaired driving in I-70 crash on Friday, December 2nd, 2016
A Middletown man has been charged with impaired driving after his car hit a tree on Interstate 70 westbound Friday night, according to Maryland State Police.
At about 10 p.m., Cody Poffenberger, 21, was injured after his car collided with a tree at the 32-mile marker of I-70, trapping him in the vehicle, Senior Trooper W. Talbert said Saturday.
The collision caused a fire to break out, he said.
Poffenberger was taken to a hospital but has since been released.
Laboratory tests to determine if Poffenberger was under the influence of alcohol or drugs have yet to be released, Talbert said.
