Albany, NY : Car crashes into plumbing supply business in Paramus on Saturday, 22nd October 2016
A car crashed into a plumbing supply business on Route 17 south in Paramus Saturday, injuring the driver and forcing the store to close early.
The Paramus Fire Department was on the scene at Davidson Plumbing Supply, where the male driver was taken to a hospital, said Sgt. Elliot Colon. He declined to provide details, referring questions to the police chief, who was not available.
A call to the store was not answered Saturday afternoon.
Joe DeCaro, the manager of a Red Lobster restaurant next to the plumbing supply store, said two cars were involved in an accident. One of the vehicles hit the side of the store and the airbags deployed, DeCaro said. The driver, who appeared to be unconscious, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, he said.
The driver, his wife and other family members were en route to New York City, DeCaro said after speaking to the injured man’s wife. No one else was injured.
“The one car stopped right in the parking lot and the other one went into the side of the building,’’ DeCaro said. “It looked like a big hole in the wall. They boarded up the whole side of the building,’’ he said.
“It calmed down pretty quickly,’’ he added.
