Dora, AL : 27-year-old man died in crash on U.S. Highway 78 in Jefferson County on Thursday morning, December 10, 2015

Authorities today released the identity of a man killed Thursday morning in a Jefferson County crash.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Christopher Glenn Womble. He was 27.

Jefferson County sheriff's deputies were dispatched just before 5 a.m. to a wreck at the intersection of Warrior-Jasper Road and U.S. Highway 78, said Chief Deputy Randy Christian. A passerby reported seeing a vehicle off the roadway in a ravine with the lights still on. No other vehicles were involved.

When deputies arrived, they found Womble in the driver seat. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Womble, who lived in Mississippi, was alone in the car, Christian said.
