Joplin,MO : Three motorists injured in accidents on area roads on June, Sunday 4th 2017

A Kansas City resident was injured in a two-vehicle collision shortly before 1:30 p.m. Sunday on Highway 43, about 2 miles north of Airport Drive in Jasper County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Ellen L. Collins, 37, was taken to Mercy Hospital Joplin with minor injuries. She was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Christopher M. Collins, 38, of Kansas City.

According to the patrol, a northbound vehicle driven by Stephanie L. Tilton, 45, of Carl Junction, ran into the rear of the Collins vehicle.

• An area teen was injured in a two-vehicle crash about 11 a.m. Sunday on Highway 249, about a mile south of Carterville in Jasper County, according to the state patrol.

Yemmi C. Hernandez, 13, of Joplin, was taken to Freeman Hospital West with serious injuries. Jonathan J. Orellana Hernandez, 19, of Carthage, driver of one of the vehicles, declined treatment for minor injuries.

The patrol said the northbound Hernandez vehicle ran off the road, through the median and into the path of a southbound truck rig driven by Terry L. James, 65, of Monett. James was not injured.
