Grand Junction ,CO : Man cited in crash with trooper vehicle on Monday evening , July 20 2015
A man was cited Monday morning after authorities alleged he crashed his car into a Colorado State Patrol trooper’s patrol vehicle between Grand Junction and Fruita.
Derek Leifer, 27, was ticketed on suspicion of failure to yield at a stop sign after an investigation of a two-vehicle accident reported just before 9 a.m. at the intersection of 22 and J roads. State Patrol Trooper Nate Reid said another trooper was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe patrol vehicle northbound on 22 Road when the SUV was struck on its left front side by a Nissan Sentra operated by Leifer, who was headed east on J Road.
Leifer’s hometown wasn’t immediately available.
No injuries were reported, Reid said,
The Chevy Tahoe was towed from the crash scene, but further information on damages was not available Monday night.
Alcohol or drug impairment was not a suspected factor, Reid said.
