Enid, OK : Teenager killed in auto-pedestrian crash in West Randolph early Saturday, May 21, 2016
A 15-year-old girl was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Enid early Saturday.
Police said they received reports of a hit-and-run just after midnight in the 200 block of West Randolph. A bicyclist was struck by a white SUV, which left the scene.
The man on the bike received minor injuries and did not require treatment.
Just before 12:15 a.m., officers received a second report of a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian in the 1500 block of West Elm.
Witnesses described a similar vehicle and said it was traveling at a high rate of speed. The SUV struck the teenage girl and left the scene, witnesses told police.
The victim died at the scene, police said.
Authorities located the vehicle on fire about 12:18 a.m. in the 700 block of Overland Trail.
Detectives said they traced the vehicle to Alynn Collins. They found Collins at his residence on Sonora Trail. Authorities said Collins was undressed and in bed as if he had been sleeping.
Investigators found DNA evidence on the hood of the vehicle and in his bedding that linked Collins to the crash.
Collins was arrested on charges of leaving the scene of an injury accident and leaving the scene of an accident causing bodily harm or death.
Authorities said he resisted officers and they believed he was intoxicated at the time of arrest.
