Motorcyclist seriously injured earlier this week remains hospitalized
Update:
A motorcyclist seriously injured earlier this week remains hospitalized.
Suzanne Santangelo, spokeswoman for Ocala Regional Medical Center, said Friday that James Turo was at the facility in critical condition.
Turo, 22, of Ocala, was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle Tuesday night and crashed into a car.
Officers with the Ocala Police Department were told by employees at a restaurant that Turo and another man showed up intoxicated. The employees said they tried to convince the men to leave their motorcycles behind and they would get a ride for them. The men rode away and the employees called police.
One officer saw Turo, who sped away. The officer gave chase until, he said, Turo was traveling at such a high rate of speed he called off the pursuit.
As the officer was returning to the eatery, he was advised that Turo had crashed into the car. The investigation is on-going, police said Friday.
