Salem, OR : Silverton teacher, student die in car crash near Molalla on Friday, March 4, 2016

Grief counselors will be on hand Monday at Silverton High School and Bethany Charter School to help students and faculty in the wake of a fatal car crash near Molalla.

The Statesman Journal reports that Douglas Bonham, a fifth- and sixth-grade teacher at Bethany, and Matthew Albrecht, a junior at Silverton High School, were killed in the single-vehicle crash.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called just after 7 p.m. on Friday to a crash involving a Honda Accord. Officials arrived at the scene and found both occupants of the vehicle dead.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Officials don't believe alcohol was a factor.

Silver Falls School District Superintendent Andy Bellando says Bonham was a mentor to Albrecht for years. Bellando says he didn't know where they were headed on Friday night.
