A fatal accident has shut down US 301 at I-95 in the Town of Santee.
Trooper Judd with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said on Twitter exit 97 north and south onto US 301 are closed due to a collision that happened Thursday afternoon.
An extremely large vehicle fire is burning on the overpass over Interstate 95. Photos show a huge cloud of black smoke rising high above the collision site.
Highway Patrol’s traffic information website shows there is at least one fatality related to the incident which happened around 2:30 p.m.
