Man killed in I-15 rollover near Cedar City

One man was killed in a rollover accident Thursday on Interstate 15 near the southern Parowan interchange.Law enforcement officials believe the accident occurred in the early morning hours, but the wreckage was not discovered until approximately 7 a.m.According to the Public Affairs office of Utah Highway Patrol, friends traveling in another vehicle called UHP about 1 a.m. and said they were unable to contact a friend they were traveling with. They also told officials approximately where the vehicle was the last time they spoke.Public affairs officer Sgt. Todd Royce said troopers searched the area but were not able to locate the vehicle, described as a red Ford pickup.At about 7 a.m. police went out again after another party reported seeing a wrecked vehicle just off the interstate, according to Sgt. Ryan Bauer. Officials then found the vehicle.Officials said the investigation showed the truck had swerved for unknown reasons, slid off on the right shoulder of the road and rolled several times before finally landing upright on its wheels. Bauer said the driver was wearing a seatbelt, but died on impact. The vehicle suffered substantial damage to the roof.There were no other vehicles involved and no passengers reported in the truck. The name of the driver has not yet been released.
