Austin, TX : A 2-year-old Hawley girl died in a crash on May, Monday 8th 2017

A 2-year-old Hawley girl died Monday of injuries she received in a one-car crash in Jones County a day earlier.

The Texas Department of Public Safety identified the girl as Taylynn Carrol Cumpton. She was taken to Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, where she was pronounced dead early Monday morning.

She was a passenger in a car driven by Marleigh D-Lynn Patterson, 19, of Hawley.

Patterson was driving a 2001 Toyota Camry south on Farm Road 1226, about nine miles northeast of Hawley, after 9 p.m. Sunday. The DPS reported the car went into a skid and drove off the left side of the road and hit a tree.

Patterson was taken to Hendrick Medical Center with serious injuries.

Patterson was wearing a seat belt and the child was in a car seat.

The accident remains under investigation.
