Jackson County, MO : Four people injured in highway 75 head-on crash in Jackson County in Oakland on Friday November 27 2015
Four people were injured when two cars collided head-on early Friday morning on US-75 highway in northern Jackson County, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded about 1:44 a.m. to a report of a two-vehicle crash at US-75’s Muddy Creek Bridge, north of 318th Road.
Saul Hernandez Castoreno, of Harlingten, Texas, was driving northbound in a 2000 Ford Mustang when he lost control on the bridge, which was icy, and struck a southbound 1996 Acura driven by John Curtis Owens, of Topeka. Owens had to be extricated, according to a news release.
Four people were transported to Topeka hospitals with injuries not believed to be “incapacitating,” according to the sheriff’s office. It wasn’t clear how many people were in the vehicles.
Law enforcement shut down the bridge until the accident scene was cleared and the bridge was treated to reduce ice on the roadway. The Netawaka, Whiting and Holton fire departments responded to the scene.
