CLERMONT, FL : Two dead, one injured in crash south of Clermont on Thursday, 28th November, 2019

Two people died and a 15-year-old boy was injured Thursday night in a single-vehicle crash south of Clermont, state troopers say.

According to a crash report from the Florida Highway Patrol, 51-year-old Juan Melendez Cruz, of Kissimmee, and 42-year-old Kristi Cruz, of Groveland, were killed around 7:10 p.m. after their Honda Accord, driven by Juan Cruz, left the road and overturned on County Road 474 near Yancey Road.

The car’s roof struck a tree and both died on scene, the report said.

A 15-year old boy was the only survivor of the crash. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries and has been released.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, the FHP report said.
