Urbanna, VA : Middlesex man killed in car crash on Route 199 in Williamsburg on Sunday, January 29, 2017

Michael Thomas Ott, 27, of Middlesex County was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Sunday, January 29, on Route 199 in Williamsburg, according to James City County officials.

According to a James City County news release, police and fire units responded to a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of Route 199 and Brookwood Drive just after 5 a.m. on Sunday.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 1999 Dodge pickup truck was traveling westbound on Route 199 when it crossed over the median. The vehicle then veered off the road and hit trees on the eastbound side of the road, causing the pickup to roll over on its roof, the release stated.

Mr. Ott, the driver, was transported to Riverside Doctor’s Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival. According to police, Mr. Ott was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and investigators believe alcohol to be a factor in the crash.
