COLUMBIA, SC : 17-year-old after crashing vehicle stolen from North Carolina on Sunday, 28th April 2019

A 17-year-old has been arrested by the Columbia Police Department after crashing a vehicle connected to a carjacking case in Charlotte North Carolina.James Oxendine Jr. is facing charges for possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a firearm by person under the age of 18, unlawful carrying of a pistol, hit and run, reckless driving, failure to stop for blue lights and sirens, failure to stop on police command, and no driver’s license.
According to CPD officers were notified by 911 dispatchers that a stolen Chevy Malibu from Mecklenburg County, North Carolina was traveling through Columbia.
The Chevy Malibu was then spotted by officers on Norman Street and a traffic stop was initiated.
Oxendine is accused of speeding away from the area and failing to stop for police blue lights and sirens.
Officers followed Oxendine to the intersection of Farrow and Christian Roads until he crashed into two brick mailboxes at a senior citizen’s home.
Oxendine was apprehended by two officers after attempting to runway from the crash scene.
