St. Charles, MO : 83-year-old Huntley man dies in car accident outside St. Charles on Friday, 5th February 2021

An 83-year-old Huntley man died in a car crash Friday morning on Randall Road near Bolcum Road in unincorporated St. Charles.

Fred Thomas, 83, of Huntley was the sole occupant of a Honda Accord heading south on Randall Road, according to a news release. For unknown reasons, he crossed the center line and hit a northbound Chevrolet Equinox head-on at 6:15 a.m.

Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Equinox, a 40-year-old woman from Aurora who also was the only occupant of her vehicle, was taken to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Kane County sheriff’s deputies and members of the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team are investigating the crash. No tickets have been issued. It is unknown whether slippery road conditions played a role in the crash, officials said.
