Seattle, WA : 1 killed in crash near Northgate Mall Friday morning, November 11, 2016

A 67-year-old man died in a single-car crash near Northgate Mall Friday morning, authorities said.

The car apparently struck a tree around 9:30 a.m. at Northeast Northgate Way and Third Avenue Northeast, killing the driver, police said.

The circumstances that led to the crash remain unclear.

Shata Stephenson, a Seattle Fire Department captain, said the man suffered life-threatening injuries, and that medics transported him to Harborview Medical Center.

It’s unclear when he died.

The King County Medical Examiner will formally identify him.
