Columbia County, FL : Two killed in Columbia County crash on U.S. 441 at Alfred Markham Street on Friday morning, August 29, 2014

Two people were killed in a crash Friday morning in Columbia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. State troopers said a Chevrolet Geo carrying both victims was going north on U.S. 441 at Alfred Markham Street about 7 a.m. when the driver, 24-year-old Ryan Schaefer, of Lake City, traveled off the road and onto the east shoulder. Schaefer tried to travel back onto the road, then lost control and crossed into the path of a southbound Chevrolet Malibu, troopers said. They said the second car was unable to avoid Schaefer's car and collided. Schaefer died at the scene. His passenger, 21-year-old Ashley Colvin, of Lake City, died at Shands Lakeshore Hospital. Chad Cato, 23, of Lake City, who was driving the Malibu, was not hurt. Troopers are continuing their investigation. Source : 2 killed in Columbia County crash
