Oklahoma City, OK : Two die in crashes on Oklahoma roads on Sunday, 4th September 2016
Two people died in crashes on state roads on Labor Day weekend, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
John Matthews, 73, Tahlequah
About 11:40 a.m. Sunday, Matthews was driving west on State Highway 28, just west of Pensacola in Mayes County.
His car crossed the centerline and struck a sport utility vehicle, troopers said.
Matthews, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene, troopers said.
Seven people in the SUV, all from Yukon, were treated for injuries after the crash.
Jeffery S. Thompson, 44, Billings
About 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Thompson was driving a tractor-trailer north on State Highway 74, about 4 miles east of Hunter in Garfield County. The rig went off the road, causing the load to shift and the vehicle to roll.
Thompson, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene, troopers said.
