DAYTONA BEACH, FL : Boy, 9, dies days after being hit by car in Daytona Beach on Monday, March 13th 2017

Authorities say a 9-year-old central Florida boy who was hit by a car while walking with his father has died.

Daytona Beach police say Anthony Altamirano and his father Miguel Leonor walked in front of a vehicle while cross at an intersection on Monday night. The impact knocked them to the ground and they were both taken to a hospital.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal (http://bit.ly/2nuUNkR ) reports the boy had multiple fractures and a head injury. His 27-year-old father suffered multiple injuries as well.

Police say the driver stopped after the crash hasn’t been charged because it wasn’t his fault. His identity hasn’t been released.
