Pittsburgh, PA : 1 killed, 3 injured in Washington County crash on Wednesday, March 8, 2017
State police said alcohol was a factor in a Washington County crash that killed a 20-year-old woman and seriously injured a teenage passenger and a driver late Wednesday.
Police said Tanya Ann Phillips, of New Freeport, Greene County, was a passenger in a car involved in the two-vehicle crash, which occurred around 11 p.m. in Morris. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, Frank Finnegan Jr., 22, and another passenger, a 14-year-old boy, suffered serious injuries, according to police. Mr. Finnegan is in the intensive care unit at UPMC Presbyterian and the teen was taken to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.
The county coroner’s office said Mr. Finnegan lost control of the vehicle in the 400 block of Plum Sock Road near Conger Road and crossed the center line, striking an oncoming pickup truck driven by Michael F. Leathers, 61, of Jefferson, Greene County.
Mr. Leathers was taken to Washington Hospital with leg injuries, authorities said. His condition has not been released.
Police did not release the relationship between the passengers in the Finnegan vehicle or where he and the teen reside.
Police continue to investigate.
