Jennings, LA : Two motorcyclists injured in an accident near Bobby Road on Monday, May 2, 2016

Two motorcyclists were injured Monday in an accident just south of Jennings near Bobby Road.

One of the motorcyclists received critical injuries and was airlifted from the scene to a Lafayette hospital, State Police Sgt. James Anderson said. The second motorcyclist received moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to the same hospital, he said.

Anderson said it appears the motorcycles attempted to pass a vehicle when one of the motorcycles struck the mirror on the vehicle causing the first motorcycle to strike the second motorcycle.
After the crash, one motorcycle ended up in the ditch and the other came to rest on the shoulder of the highway, he said.

The intersection of La. 26 and Bobby Road remained closed for several hours as state police investigated the accident.

Anderson said charges are pending further investigation.
