A Leesburg man was killed Wednesday morning in a head-on collision involving an Ocala driver traveling the wrong way.
Richard Dale Neely, 68, of Leesburg, was driving east on Sumter County Road 470 at 12:24 a.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol media release. His Ford Fiesta collided with a Nissan Altima being driven by Robert Jason Headley.
Troopers said Headley, 37, of Ocala, was going west but was in the eastbound lane.
Neely was pronounced dead at the scene. Headley was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center with what troopers described as serious injuries.
Investigators said there is no indication alcohol was involved. Both men were wearing seat belts.
