A 15-year-old Okemah girl died Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Okfuskee County, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol accident report.
Around 10:30 a.m., a 17-year-old boy, from Henryetta, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet 4D east on Old 62 when the vehicle left the road for an unknown reason, the accident report said. The vehicle hit a concrete bridge post, and the teenage girl was ejected an unknown distance.
The girl was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. The driver was treated and released from a Henryetta hospital.
The reporting trooper noted that the driver's inattention caused the crash. Both the driver and the passenger were wearing their seat belts and the airbags deployed.
Highway Patrol officials have not released the victim's or the boy's names because of their ages.
