A man driving a log truck died in a crash about 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 278 at Tom Cat Road.
Phillip Gary Davis, 52, was killed when the 2001 Freightliner he was driving was struck by a 2015 Ford, driven by Timothy Klopfestein, 52, of Wapakonepa, OH.
According to Ball Play No. 1 Volunteer Fire Chief John Chapman, Davis was heading west toward Hokes Bluff and swerved to avoid a car stopped to make a turn and another car that tried to go around the stopped vehicle. Both of the other vehicles were traveling eastbound.
