LYSANDER, NY : Oswego County couple injured in Lysander motorcycle crash on Wednesday, August 23, 2017

Two people are in a local hospital with injuries after losing control of their motorcycle Wednesday evening, according to the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office.

The crash happened just after 5 p.m. along the 2100 block of West Genesee Road / Route 370 in Lysander, officials said.

Deputies were called to an area near the Interstate 690 overpass for a report of a motorcycle crash. An Oswego County couple had lost control of their bike, according to the sheriff's office.

Their names would be released tomorrow morning, according to the sheriff's office.

A Ford F150 pickup truck reportedly pulled out of a driveway in front of the pair, causing the motorcycle driver to stop quickly. The driver then lost control and crashed, deputies said.

The two were thrown from the bike and were seriously injured. They were taken to Upstate University Hospital, where the male driver is being treated for a hip injury and the woman passenger is being treated for a head injury, according to the office.

Officals closed down West Genesee Road from Dexter Parkway to I-690 for about 4 hours while they worked the scene, but was expected to reopen by 9:30 p.m. There was no collision between the bike and the truck, but the truck driver was still fully cooperative with authorities, officials said.

The investigation is ongoing.
