Mount Airy,MD : Mount Airy woman killed in second Md. 27 fatal crash on June, tuesday 20th 2017

The second fatal crash on Md. 27 by Mount Airy in nine days claimed the life of a 78-year-old woman.

Anna True, of Mount Airy, died from injuries sustained in a collision with a tractor-trailer around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Md. 27 and Falling Green Way, Maryland State Police Sgt. Jeff Shipley said.True was driving a 2006 Pontiac when she failed to yield the right of way while pulling out of Falling Green Way onto Md. 27, Shipley said. The tractor-trailer was driven by Michael Garner, 43, Shipley said.

Md. 27 was closed between Mount Airy Drive and Windermere Way as of 5:50 p.m. Tuesday. The State Highway Administration was called to assist with detouring traffic.

Traffic was detoured from Md. 27 to Windermere Way to Twin Ponds Lane to Mount Airy Drive while the road was closed, said Charlie Gischlar, spokesman for State Highway Administration.

Approximately nine days prior, a similar fatal collision occurred on Md. 27 at Main Street. Judith Davis, 71, was flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore after the car she was in was hit around 3 p.m. June 12, according to Maryland State Police.

Davis and her husband Ronald, who was driving, were in a 2013 Honda Accord when their car was hit by a 2002 Ford pickup truck driven by 29-year-old Stephanie Runion, according to the state police.

According to a the state police news release, Runion was making a left turn onto Md. 27 from Main Street and struck the Honda Accord. Judith Davis was ejected from the car.

Ronald Davis was taken to Carroll Hospital by ground transport, and Runion was not transported after the crash, Shipley said.

An investigation is still pending in the June 12 collision, Shipley said.
