Harborcreek, PA : Van driver might have had sun in eyes before he died rear-ending school bus in northwestern Pennsylvania on Monday, Sep 21, 2015

State police say a van driver who died when he rear-ended a school bus in northwestern Pennsylvania might have been blinded by the sun in his eyes.

The Erie Times-News reports the driver's name wasn't immediately released following the crash about 7:30 a.m. Monday.

Troopers say the driver hit the Harborcreek Township school bus as it was picking up students headed to St. Luke Elementary School in Erie.

Police say none of the students appeared to be seriously hurt, though some were taken to a hospital as a precaution.

Police say a driver behind the van told investigators he was barely able to stop in time to avoid the wreckage because the sun was shining in his eyes. That's why police believe the van driver might have been similarly affected.
