Sulphur, LA : Two people died and another seriously injured in head-on crash on Friday January 29 2016
Two people died and another was seriously injured early Saturday in a head-on crash north of Sulphur, authorities said.
A 2005 Chevrolet Impala was heading north on La. 27 at about 4 a.m. when the driver, 22-year-old Alejandro Delgado of Sulphur, crossed the center line in a no-passing zone, colliding with a 2011 Kia Sorento, said state police Sgt. James Anderson.
The driver of the Kia, 26-year-old Michael Maddox, and the passenger, 27-year-old Amber Borel, both of Dry Creek, were seriously injured and were taken to an area hospital, Anderson said.
Maddox was pronounced dead at the hospital, he said. Delgado was pronounced dead at the scene by the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office.
Alcohol use is suspected to be a factor in the crash, and toxicology samples were obtained from the drivers for analysis, Anderson said.
