Driver Dies After Car Crashes in Clinton Connecticut

A Clinton man has died after his car plunged 25 feet off a highway overpass in Windsor and fell onto the median on Interstate 91.Authorities say 46-year-old Richard Mazzella died Wednesday morning at Hartford Hospital.

Windsor police say Mazzella was driving northbound in the HOV lane on Tuesday morning and took the exit for Bloomfield Avenue at a high rate of speed. Officers say Mazzella didn’t stop at the end of the ramp and his SUV plowed through a concrete overpass wall.

Mazzella’s Jeep Cherokee landed on its roof on the median and caught on fire.Police are trying to determine the cause of the accident. Anyone with information is urged to call Windsor police.
