Las Vegas, NV : Woman hit by car, killed in Wal-Mart parking lot in the southeast valley on Friday afternoon, October 17, 2014

A 69-year-old woman died this afternoon after being hit by a car in a Wal-Mart parking lot in the southeast valley, police said. According to a Metro Police news release, a 2014 Hyundai Elantra was driving south through the parking lot at 6005 S. Eastern Ave., near Russell Road, about 3:40 p.m. The car hit and drove over the woman, who has not yet been identified. The 54-year-old woman driving the car remained on scene, police said. The pedestrian was transported to Sunrise Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, Officer Jose Hernandez said. According to Lt. Ken Romane, the driver was not cited as it appears the occurrence was an accident. The incident remains under investigation.
