Town of Montrose, WI : 48-year-old man dead after car smashes into brick retaining wall on State Highway 69 near Paoli early Friday morning, May 20, 2016

A 48-year-old man is dead following a one-car crash in the town of Montrose early Friday morning, according to the Dane County Sheriff’s Department.

Dane County deputies said it appears the Pewaukee man was driving south on County Road PB when he failed to negotiate the intersection at PB and State Highway 69 near Paoli just before 1:30 a.m. Friday.

Deputies said his vehicle went airborne before smashing into a brick retaining wall.

The medical examiner said he died at the scene.
