Pompano Beach, FL: Two-car crash along Florida's Turnpike sends child, adult to hospital on Wednesday, July 22nd 2015

A Child was flown to a hospital after the car she was in was rear-ended along Florida's Turnpike in Pompano Beach, a Florida Highway Patrol spokesman said Thursday.The two-car crash happened about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday near the Atlantic Boulevard exit, Sgt. Mark Wysocky said.The man whose car was struck from behind was taken to Florida Medical Center, where he was treated and released, Wysocky said. A girl who had been in the same car was flown to Broward Health Medical Center.Troopers closed the northbound lanes during the rescue, Wysocky said. The driver of the second car was cited for careless driving; the motorist's name, age and gender were not released.Troopers were initially told the crash involved three vehicles and that a motorist had driven off. That turned out to be false, Wysocky said.
