One person was killed Sunday afternoon in a crash on Hwy. 49 in Gulfport.
According to Gulfport Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Damon McDaniel, a Ford Mustang was attempting to cross Hwy. 49 from Hwy. 53 toward N. Swan Rd. when a southbound Toyota 4Runner ran a traffic light, hitting the driver's side of the Mustang.
The driver of the Mustang, 65-year-old Scotty Barfield, was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 12:50 p.m.. A 1-year-old passenger in the car received minimal injuries.
The 19-year-old man driving the SUV was not injured, and was cited for disregarding a traffic light. A female passenger in the vehicle was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Police say Barfield was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
