Chico, CA : Two people ran away from the scene of a single-car crash at Forest Avenue and Amanda Way on Monday, May 2, 2016
Two people ran from the scene of a single-car crash Monday at Forest Avenue and Amanda Way, Chico police said.
The driver of white Lincoln Mark VII was northbound on Forest Avenue about 3:45 p.m. when he likely took a right turn toward Amanda Way too quickly, driving up a grassy knoll and sideswiping a tree, Sgt. Cesar Sandoval said.
The car came to a rest a few feet from a nearby apartment building.
Witnesses said the driver and his passenger ran from the wreck, Sandoval said. They were last seen going east on Amanda Way.
One of the vehicle’s occupants was described as a shorter Asian male, Sandoval said. The other was described as white male with long hair. Both were said to be wearing black clothing.
“It’s a hit-and-run investigation,” Sandoval said.
It wasn’t immediately known if the Lincoln was stolen, Sandoval said. Officers intended to contact the vehicle’s owner to gather more information.
The Lincoln narrowly missed a head-on crash with two trees and a nearby Amanda Place Apartments unit.
