A head-on crash between a crowded school bus and a car sent 11 children and both drivers to hospitals Thursday afternoon.

The children from Adams County/Ohio Valley School District and the bus driver went to Adams County Regional Hospital for non-life threatening injuries, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Fifty-one of the 62 students on the bus were not transported. They were examined at the scene and released to their parents. The bus driver was identified as Keith Williams, 58, of Peebles.

The driver of the car, a 17-year-old from from Otway, Ohio, was airlifted to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for possible serious/non-life threatening injuries. She was not identified.

The crash happened about 3:46 p.m. on State Route 125 near the intersection of Lynx Road in Brush Creek Township. The westbound car crossed the center line and struck the bus, according to the Highway Patrol.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, officials believe. Drugs or alcohol use is not suspected.

The West Union Fire Department was assisted by the West Union, Manchester, Peebles and Seaman emergency medical services.

The Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate.
