Nashville ,TN : 30-year-old Christopher James Matteson killed after he collided with the SUV and hit parked car on Monday night,August 3rd 2015

Officials have released the name of the motorcyclist who was killed in a crash in East Nashville on Monday night.

Police said the motorcyclist lost control while trying to avoid an SUV that was parallel parking in front of a home near the corner of South 14th Street and Shelby Avenue.

The motorcyclist, identified as 30-year-old Christopher James Matteson, collided with the SUV and hit a parked car around 10:30 p.m.

Matteson was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he later died. The driver of the SUV, 28-year-old Kyle Woodcock, was not injured.

Metro police said the main factors contributing to the crash were Matteson's rate of speed and Woodcock failing to maintain the travel lane.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to have cause a role in the crash.
