Beaumont, TX : 8 people injured in a fiery multivehicle accident on Interstate 10 near M.L.K. in Beaumont on Sunday, February 15, 2015
Beaumont Police Department Patrol Officers and Fire personnel are on the scene of a multiple-vehicle crash involving at least one 18-wheeler on Interstate 10 near M.L.K. in Beaumont. At least two vehicles are reportedly on fire, including the 18-wheeler, and officers are diverting traffic off Interstate 10 onto the service road in both the eastbound and westbound lanes.
Both eastbound and westbound lanes of traffic on Interstate 10 in Beaumont are being diverted onto the service road at the M.L.K. exits. Traffic is very congested and officers are urging motorist to avoid the area if possible. The Interstate will be closed for an extended period as diesel fuel has spilled onto both eastbound and westbound lanes of traffic.
We have few details about the cause and scope of the crash at this time. What we do know is that the crash occurred at about 11:40 p.m. in the eastbound lane of traffic. The crash involved multiple vehicles and several vehicles are reportedly on fire at this time. We have no information on the number of victims or severity of their injuries at this time.
